Dog Walkers do just that – They walk the dogs for exercise, provide enrichment using appropriate equipment and help teach the dogs basic obedience. At times you will also interact with members of the public to help them find their new best friend and clean up after the dogs, whether outside for a walk, in the play yard or in their rooms.
Volunteers provide 2-2.5 hours per week working with the dogs. (12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, and until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday)
Volunteers must be 18 years old.
Training consists of:
Group orientation (1 hour)
Hands on training session with an experienced volunteer in the dog wing (1.5-2 hours)
