What We Do

Our home health care services are available to residents of Tompkins County. Visiting Nurse Service is there every step of the way to help patients and their families return to a rich and full life after surgery, accident or an illness.

Loneliness, helplessness and boredom cause the human spirit to suffer. That is why the staff at Visiting Nurse Service all share in the philosophy that genuine care must involve loving companionship, active involvement by the patient and their care partners in all decision making and the belief that each phase of human development should be honored, celebrated and valued ? not seen as a decline of life. Since 1985, Visiting Nurse Service of Ithaca and Tompkins County has operated as a private, not-for-profit home health care agency governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. The Board is made up of representatives from various segments of the community and is responsible for setting policy and appointing the agency?s Executive Director. Terms of service are for 3-years with the ability to stay on for a second term. Officer positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary may be filled by a member after serving 1-year on the Board.
