In addition to the above listed activities, the FCC also helps to fund the Freeville Summer Recreation Program, in order to provide quality child care and activities for students whose parents have to work and who cannot be home to take care of them during the day throughout the summer vacation. We also help to support efforts to maintain and beautify the parks within the village, including the Genung Nature Preserve.
The FCC has a special role in the village. Funded by grants from United Way and Tompkins County Youth Services, this volunteer group organizes Freeville?s summer picnic and garden tour, as well as its winter pot-luck dinner and slide show. It supports our summer recreation program for school-age children. And it contributes to various types of projects, such as the creation of this Web site, the purchase of a display case for historical items, refreshments for a range of community events, and the purchase of mittens and school supplies for local children.
